By the standards of the slum, Kili is a luxurious place. There is a bedroom with beds and soft mattresses. If a child wants to rest, we make the bed up for them: linen that is new, clean, crisp. After a sleep they can wash and dry themselves with a real towel — another luxury. Things so simple, and so astonishing here.
There is a yard to walk in. There are toys and board games. And there is the most important thing of all: a kitchen and a dining room. Meals are cooked twice a day. That is what the children come here for first of all. For food.
