Support for children in difficult life circumstances

One of our areas of research into childhood crises is the situation of children living in poverty in Kenya.

In the course of this scientific work we identified the need to open a free charitable school, Tabor, in Kibera, Kenya's largest slum, and a rescue centre for children in extremely difficult circumstances.
We have opened a clinic for children of the Maasai people at a local shelter, where they can receive free medical care.

Children living on rubbish dumps are another severe childhood crisis. It unfolds in Burundi, one of the three poorest countries in the world. There the Institute's scientific work has literally saved children's lives. We opened the free Heha School for children from the landfill and the Good House Burundi — Heart of Africa rescue centre. In Burundi we launched the first School under the Sky for Batwa children.

Children in Uganda are forced to start working at the age of five. This is another crisis we study through direct experience, by being there on the ground. We then began putting long-term solutions into practice. Among them are the Good House Uganda — Pearl of Africa children's rescue centre and a School under the Sky.

Madagascar is one of the newest areas in our study of childhood crises. Being physically present on the ground allowed us to conclude that a School under the Sky is needed here.
